Easter Eggs
I love a chocolate Easter Egg but it amazes me how there are so many different types and different prices. I was in the supermarket today, Good Friday, and people were running around like headless chickens (excuse the pun) as there were no eggs left on the shelves. Well, when I say no eggs what I mean is that the cheap and cheerful favourites (£1-£3 each)made by Cadburys and Nestle containing Flakes, mini eggs, creme eggs, kit kats, aero, smarties and more had all gone. However, there was an abundance of higher priced eggs at £20 each. (much bigger) Why would anyone want to spend that amount on a chocolate egg when you can get a 400g bar of Cadburys Dairy Milk fot £1. I am sure 20 bars would work out at far more chocolate that the £20 egg. Anyway, I was completely astounded whilst watching the news in the early evening to find out that a luxury store in London was selling an egg for £500. The egg weighs 5 stone )(30Kg) and is made from Valrhona chocolate (which I have never heard of) It took 16 hours to make and is inlaid with 1000 hand made sugar diamonds. Who in their right mind would buy an egg that big for that price. What is Easter coming to when huge profits are trying to be made from selling chocolate when their is famine and kids starving throughout the world. Surely someone who would look at spending £500 for a huge lump of chocolate would be better off donating the money to charity which could then feed a family for a whole year in Africa.
